This is the end

20 years, and I do not feel the wiser nor the more mature. This does not worry me though as 20 should be looked at the tween-age of adulthood. Maybe I'm just calming myself down, or maybe I truly believe this. I mean 21 is the big age to be recognized, and as a 20 year-old, nothing really changes. The only thing on my mind right now is how I can stretch pasta dinners for the next two days, and also how long I can go without cleaning my apocalypse of a room. This growing up thing is not for me right now, and I think my age reflects it. 20, the age that is not so adult yet, but enough that you have to pretend like you know you're close.

First up are The Presets. They're from Australia and seem to be pretty established. Their video for my favourite song by them "If I Know You" was posted on HRO the other day, and can be seen on their myspace. I think it's pretty damn cool. It has that sick Miami Vice sound that I've been really into and am thinking could be big in the summer. Rest of their stuff is a little different, but still moss.

In other major news, I got Pandora working again on my computer. For those of you who don't know what Pandora is, its basically the most amazing online application ever. Go to www.pandora.com. Type in any band or song that you like, and based on that, it will play music that you will like. And it works. This was the shit in highschool, until Pandora got all BS and went US only, no love for the north. Until HotSpot Shield. Google it, download it, and Pandora will now work. It can make browsing a little slow, but so far it has worked legit for me. It also makes HULU videos work, and anything else on the internet that you have to be in the US to enjoy. This being said, I was just Pandora-ing and came across this little ditty

How come we don't have names/nicknames/meanings that actually reflect ourselves.  Watching Dances With Wolves and I was thinking about how those names were an actual likeness of their personality. How come I can't be "Kicking Bird" or "Stands With Fist"? A name is giving to you by your rents, back then it was from a community. Why can't I be named "Friendly Fires" or "Kanyeezy" or another alt name that is popular/meaningful/"out there". 

From now on I shall be known as Running with MUSTARD Tigrs.

So the original roots of this quotebook fizzled away like the hopes of many leafs fans. Not that the obscure humour of classic GU quotes and new found editions don't still christen the E-pages of the quotebook, but they are now accompanied by personal feelings and points of musical interest. And don't get me wrong, this is not a complaining rant, in fact im in favour of the progression we have all made as amateur bloggers. In fact to show my appreciation of the evolution of this blog I figured i'd jump on this trend and throw a few bands that have caught my fancy out there.

The first band is an american band that has re-instilled my belief that punk is not yet truly dead. The upbeat american punk ballads are filtered with a classic rock vibe reflecting an old-school Bruce Springsteen style. The band is called The Gaslight Anthem and the album is called The 59' Sound. I've been digging the whole album songs 1 through 12, you can hear their whole album on myspace.

Another american band that has recently been introduced to me by a friend is called The Glass Ocean. It is music that can actually be referred to as rock, in my opinion it embodies what the word means. I'm grateful to have this band be introduced to me, and although they have only released an EP it is fantastic, and I'm super stoked to see what this band is capable of in the future.

Alright, well we've all slacked pretty hard on the blog this week, but trust me, there are some absolute gems that shall be posted in the near future. For now, I've got some music for the weekend, which promises to be messy and full of awesome.

First, I don't know much about this, how long its been around and how many people know about it, but I think its pretty sick. Its going by the name of Jaydiohead by Minty Fresh Beats, mashing various Jay-Z & Radiohead songs together, much like the Grey Album. Theres 10 tracks total, and I will be the first to admit not all are amazing, but there are some definite gems in there. I would say Change Order and 99 Anthems are the current favourites. The Weekend's End

Well, another weekend has come and gone. I'm just going to throw this out there, as I know I have heard a lot of people saying it lately, time is just moving way too fast. Christmas feels like ages ago, reading week will be here and gone before we know it, and then bam, a summer full of work. I'm not sure where I'm going with this, as I don't have a solution to reverse time, but I guess everyone should just take a few minutes sometimes. We're all pretty much getting banged up more nights out of the week than not, out at the bars or just beer pong with a few pals, sometimes it can blur together. This is mostly spurred from The Duke's post about how our cabin fever has set in. Sure, it may seem unhealthy to eat literally only pizza and alcohol for an entire day, but when will we ever be able to do that again? It reminds me of a time right at the start of the break when the Duke and I happened to be driving around town back at home. Almost without saying anything we kind of both knew that things have changed. He said "the trees are getting shorter", and at the time, it sounded hilarious and just ridiculous, but I thought about it later and in a way in kind of made sense. I'm sure the trees aren't literally shorter, but it's that kind of feeling. Like somethings different, but you would never notice it right away. I may just be in an existential mindset as I just watched Lost in Translation which I think is pretty damn good. It just gets you thinking about how some of the most mundane stuff in life can actually be the best.

But enough of the Ferris Bueller rant. Time to post some music from the weekend that was.

So this is my first post, and I mean ever. I've never read a blog and certainly never "squired" on one, and I only yesterday found out why a Blog is called a Blog. But as the title of this post indicates, I am now living the self imposed prison lifestyle, getting edgy, and feeling the walls close in. I mean, when Celsius meets Fahrenheit on the old thermometer for a week straight, you can hardly blame a man for letting himself slide. Eight slices of pizza, greasy hair, beer bellies, bloody ping pong balls and sweatpants should all adorn the coat of arms here at the Estate. I can honestly say that a man cannot call himself a man until has contributed to the should-be-world-record of killing 60 odd hamburger buns in 3 days. If Cabin Fever is the disease, then perhaps Blogging is the antidote, and as long as this antidote doesn't taste like Banana and doesn't need refrigeration, I'll give it a try. 

In conclusion, my advisors have told me to notify the worldwide web that this is my Coup-de-Blog. If the garbage I put into my body is only half as good as the garbage I plan to spew on this page we'll all be in for a treat. This blog is now mine, you've all been annexed into County Argyll. First and foremost, I believe that if somehow a slow-clap were possible in blog-form, mustardtigr's last post deserves one.

Alright, what else is in the news. Despite facing numerous evictions, chronic laziness, and what most health professionals would consider alcoholism, the six of us have managed to be invited back into the palace that is 320 Princess Unit 3 for next year. Not only does this mean that the blog has a greater chance of surviving, but also us guys ourselves, as I'm pretty sure we'd be somewhere in a ditch within a couple days away from the group.

In other news, MSTRKRFT has stopped in town as MustardTigr noted. However, he neglected to report that the price of tickets somehow went from $30 to over $50 in about 3 days, leaving about 80% of the people I talked and myself included not shelling out the dough. I don't really know whose responsible for the prices, I guess as people start to realize they are selling the last few tickets they jack the price and pocket the premium. I just think it's pretty unfortunate. Steve Aoki waltzed into London at the start of the year, along with Crookers and they both killed it, for $20. I'm sure the shows gonna be sick tonight, but whether it's their fault or not, I think it reflects poorly on the guys. Hope this isn't the future for shows coming to London.
